Ambitions at Foundations offers accredited one-day courses including lash application and lift, HD and henna brows as well as brow lamination, waxing, spray tanning, nails and facials.

The refurbishment has seen the creation of a tropical-themed training area which boasts shower facilities so it can eventually offer additional courses such as mud wraps.

There is also a separate salon area – which is fully equipt – which Julie is looking to hire out in the future.

The courses are mainly aimed at people who already work in the industry, but absolute beginners are also able to take part.

Each participant will receive a beauty kit large enough to carry out around 50 treatments.

Julie, who lives in Tittensor, said: “We want to give people an opportunity to add to their current offering. So if they just do nails at the moment, they can look at doing brows and lashes too.

“The courses are a mixture of theory and practical and we are keeping class sizes small so our tutors can support our learners.

She added: “We are starting in Stoke-on-Trent but we want to expand and attract learners from across the Midlands; and we have already recruited an extra tutor to allow us to do that.

“We are also trying to keep on trend with the courses we are offering, such as henna brows and brown lamination, and will introduce new courses as new trends emerge but we will not be offering invasive treatments, such as botox.”

The courses officially started yesterday and will run on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays on selected dates until December.

Julie said: “While lockdown has been really difficult for us, I think it is the right time to launch Ambitions.

“Over the last few months people have had time to reflect on what they want, maybe they’ve lost their job or been on furlough and decided they want a complete change in career.

“We are also giving people who already run businesses the chance to expand themselves.

“We have created a relaxed learning environment here where we hope people will enjoy coming to.”
